MOC adds two new coaches

MOUNT OLIVE -- Rick Parlow, who has coached at the NCAA Division I, professional and international levels, has been named assistant women's soccer coach at Mount Olive College. Parlow will assist fifth-year Trojan head coach Matt Hisler.

Parlow most recently served as an assistant coach for the men's U-19 team for Bundesliga in Germany. Previously, Parlow was an assistant coach for the Boston Renegades of the WPS (Women's Pro Soccer). He has also served as assistant women's soccer coach at High Point University.

Parlow spent six years with the Stones River Futbol Club in Smyrna, Tenn., where he served as director of goalkeeping and coached several boys' and girls' teams. He took over two teams that were winless the year before and guided both to the state finals within two years.

Parlow succeeds five-year Trojan assistant women's soccer coach Reid Clewis, who accepted a position earlier this year at a soccer club in his hometown of Wilmington.

Mount Olive returns all of its starters from last year's squad, including six All-Conference Carolinas selections. The Trojans finished above .500 for the first time in four years last season, posting on overall record of 10-8-1 and a 6-4-0 conference mark. Mount Olive ranked 17th in the nation in scoring offense and had three players ranked among the individual national statistics leaders.

One the mens side, Paul Coleman, who served as an assistant for Mount Olive College head men's soccer coach Godfrey Miller while the two were at Wake Technical Community College, has been named assistant men's soccer coach for the Trojans. Coleman and Miller guided Wake Tech to the regional semifinals last fall.

Coleman played collegiate soccer at University of Michigan, where he earned an undergraduate degree in history. He also played professional soccer for the Grand Rapids Explosion of the USISL.

Coleman coached at the high school level in Ohio and Michigan, achieving individual and team success. After being named Central Ohio Coach of the Year, Coleman accepted the coaching position at Brandon High School in Detroit. He led Brandon HS to three district titles in four years.

Last season, Wake Tech posted an overall record of 13-4-2 under Miller and Coleman. The 2010 season was only the third year of men's soccer at Wake Tech.

In addition to his coaching and playing experience, Coleman is a licensed massage therapist. He serves as lead massage therapist and equipment manager for the Carolina Railhawks of the North America Soccer League.

Coleman is reunited with Miller, who was hired in February as Mount Olive's head men's soccer coach.
