Hawks slip past Trojans in ECC baseball

LaGRANGE -- Grayson Phillips and JT Williams each swatted a home run, and North Lenoir nipped South Johnston, 8-7, in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play Friday evening.
Phillips concluded the night 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Williams batted 2-for-3 with three RBI. Chastin Radford contributed two hits. Rand Jackson, Spencer Bass (two RBI) and Mikel Batts (RBI) each logged one hit.
Jackson seized the mound win. He struck out six, walked two and gave up one earned run in 42/3 innings. Radford notched the save with one inning of one-hit, one-strikeout relief.
The Hawks (6-1 overall) improved to 3-1 in ECC play this season.
