DURHAM -- Sophomore Sarah Best collected four goals and one assist in Wayne Country Day's 6-4, non-conference victory over The Elon School on opening day of the Trinity of Durham Invitational.
Catherine Ford added two goals and two assists for the Chargers, who improved to 2-0-0 overall this season.
"Margaret Tanner worked strong at forward and stretched Elon's defense beyond its breaking point, which allowed Ford and Best to put balls in the back of the net with aid from midfielders Abby Pope and Shelby Powell," said second-year WCDS head coach William Hogan.
Hogan also credited goal keeper Crawford Tanner with solid play, and applauded Mack Thompson's work at sweeper.
