Savannah Sauls claimed the 200-yard freestyle event and Goldsboro High -- as usual -- turned in yet another dominating team performance at B.G. Darden Natatorium on Tuesday evening.

Sauls, from Charles B. Aycock, touched the wall in 2 minutes, 21.27 seconds on the girls' scene. She helped lead the Golden Falcons to a second-place finish behind Clinton, which claimed a 105-103 triumph in the team chase.

Senior Bryce Connolly captured first place in the 50 free (27.75) and 100 free (59.19). Sauls and Connolly -- along with Jayna Beamon and Kylie Robertson -- finished runners-up in the 200 medley relay.

Aycock's Taylor Bradshaw competed on the 200 free relay, which ended up second behind Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference member South Johnston. Joining Bradshaw were Robertson, Sauls and Connolly.

Sauls and Beamon secured third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 fly.

Eastern Wayne's Victoria Mashburn emerged victorious in the 500 free with a first-place effort of 7:13.56. The Golden Falcons' Alexus Lemasters and Erica Darner placed third and fourth, respectively. Southern Wayne's Michala Best was sixth.

The Saints' Taylor Pate was fourth in the 200 free.

The Warriors' Heather Black logged a third-place time in the 200 individual medley (IM), while Mashburn was ninth overall in the 50 free.

Goldsboro's Heather Wurtzele placed seventh in the 100 fly.

On the boys' side, Goldsboro registered first-place times in eight contested events and won two relays -- the 200 medley and 200 free.

Travis Paul captured the 100 fly and 100 free. Darion Marks collected a victory in the 50 free, while Cole seized the 500 free and 100 backstroke. All three, along with 100 breaststroke winner Timmy Vick, comprised the winning relays.

Eastern Wayne's Collin Hobbs won the 1-meter diving with 184 points. Southern Wayne's Jacob Sasser earned second place, followed by 2010 state placer Denzel Benjamin and Aycock's Devin Hall.

The Golden Falcons and Saints touched the wall third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 medley relay. The Warriors were sixth.

Southern Wayne's Dylan Atwood placed second in the 200 free, while teammate David Joyner was ninth. Joyner -- along with Sasser, Christian Newberry and Chad Davis -- ended up second behind Clinton in the meet-ending, 400 free relay.

The Warriors' Ty Schmeltzer and Joseph Henry placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 200 free.

Marks and the Golden Falcons' Sam Chastain touched the wall second and third, respectively, in the 200 IM. Aycock's Demion Creel logged third in the 50 free, while the Saints' Davis and Sam Ferrell grabbed third and fifth, respectively.
