MOUNT OLIVE -- Freshman Erika Conner earned all-tournament recognition, and Mount Olive College finished fourth overall during the MOC Women's Volleyball Invitational contested at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans compiled a 1-3 worksheet, that included a home-opening, five-set victory over Millersville (Pa.) University. Conner, a a 5-foot-8 outside hitter, recorded a double-double -- 11 kills, 14 digs.
Tiffany Hight, who red-shirted last season, pounded out 22 kills and collected six blocks in the victory. Senior Kailey Preece handed out 55 assists in her first collegiate match at setter.
MOC dropped a five-set decision to Fairmont State (W. Va.) University, and endured three-set losses against Newberry (S.C.) and Francis Marion (S.C.) University.
Conner collected another double-double, 16 kills and 11 digs, in the five-set affair against Fairmont State. Hight added 15 kills, while Lauren Lee (11 kills), Ashley Reuter (10) and Carly White (10) also contributed offensively.
Feliz Ramirez had a team-best 25 digs.
Preece delivered a match- and career-best 61 assists.
In the three-set defeat to Francis Marion, Conner emerged the offensive leader with 14 kills and three service aces. Hight registered 11 kills, while White supplied seven blocks.
Preece had 33 assists.
Conner posted seven kills and five digs against Newberry. Lee had six kills and five digs, while White ended up with five kills and four blocks.
Mount Olive (2-7 overall) plays host to Conference Carolinas foes Limestone on Friday and Converse College on Saturday.
