As the weather continues to heat up, so does Wayne County North.

Logan Wicks pitched a complete game as Wayne North picked up a 4-1, Junior American Legion victory over Snow Hill Post 94 on Thursday night in New Hope.

Wayne North (12-5 overall) claimed its seventh straight win.

"We just can't get lazy," said Wayne North head coach Roger May. "Snow Hill has tradition ... they know how to play baseball. We did the little things when we needed to and Logan did a great job on the mound. I hope we can continue this because it's not going to get any easier."

Snow Hill starting pitcher Landon Elmore held Wayne North to four hits, but Nolan James delivered the big blow in the third inning with a two-run home run that pushed the lead to 3-0.

James finished with two hits and two RBI.

Grayson Wells put Wayne North on the board earlier in the inning when he crossed home plate as part of a double-steal.

Gunner Tyndall's solo homer in the top of the fifth inning pulled Post 94 to within 3-1. Benito Avilla scored on a wild pitch in the home half of the fifth to extend the lead to 4-1.

Wicks struck out the side in the second and induced an inning-ending double play in the top of the fourth with runners on the corners and one out. The right-hander surrendered one earned run on six hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.

"Logan's got the potential to really help this program," said May. "If he hits his spots and changes speeds, he's going to be really successful. He got his curveball and changeup over but he spotted his fastball."

Snow Hill (7-7) entertains Benson today, while Wayne North visits Northern Nash for a doubleheader on Sunday.
