WC South trips Benson

FOUR OAKS -- Wayne County South continued its strong start to the season with a 4-2 victory over Junior American Legion foe Benson at South Johnston High School on Saturday.
Jamar Holmes earned the win on the mound, surrendering two earned runs while striking out four in six innings of work.
Clayton Cashwell had two singles for Wayne South. Josh Edwards provided an RBI single and Taylor Gainey added a double. Ashton Cox also supplied a single.
Wayne South (9-1 overall) entertains Wayne County North tonight.

Martin collects ace
CLINTON -- Al Martin carded a hole-in-one, the fourth of his career, while playing at Timberlake Golf Club.
Martin accomplished the feat on the par-3, 121-yard No. 6 hole. Playing partners Ben Carey, Ray Cox and Jack Davis varified Martin's achievement.
