PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock received two solid pitching performances and got plenty of offense in game two while sweeping a Junior American Legion doubleheader from Rocky Mount on Tuesday night.

The Golden Falcons prevailed 4-1 and 12-1. Each game lasted five innings.

Aycock broke open a scoreless game two with five runs in the bottom of the third inning. Michael Roscoe and Adam Pate each delivered an RBI single, while Tyler Farmer had a two-run single.

Cameron Taylor's RBI double gave the Golden Falcons a 5-0 lead.

"We've been struggling and finally we swung the bat," said Aycock head coach Nelson Cunningham. "We needed that."

Rocky Mount scored a run on a Golden Falcons' error in the top of the fourth.

Collin DuBose's pinch-hit, three-run home run highlighted Aycock's seven-run outburst in the home half of the fourth. The Golden Falcons sent 11 men to the plate in the fourth and appeared to have bounced back from a 9-3 loss to Wayne County South last Thursday.

Pate, Farmer (two RBI), Taylor and Roscoe each finished with two hits.

"I was scared about playing two non-conference games after losing to a good team like Wayne County South," said Cunningham. "You don't want to dig yourself a hole. That's why I was very pleased. I hope this carries over to tomorrow."

Aycock starting pitcher Avery Anderson surrendered one unearned run on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks in four innings to earn the win. Ryan Grant worked a scoreless fifth.

Gregory Johnson recorded the win on the mound in game one and Taylor worked the fifth to pick up the save.

"Our pitching has done good," said Cunningham. "Gregory Johnson threw a heck of a ballgame for us. Avery got up there and filled up the strike zone in the second game. That's what we needed with two non-conference games and then two conference games coming up."

The Golden Falcons (6-1 overall) visit Benson today.
