SALISBURY -- Mount Olive pulled within a two-possession in the final 67 seconds, but Catawba used a game-ending 9-0 run to claim an 83-69, non-conference women's basketball victory Friday evening.

Senior forward Helen Moore poured in a game-high 24 points for the Trojans, who fell to 2-4 overall this season. Point guard Shequanta McGee scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half, while Brittany Miller added 14 points for the Trojans.

Laporsha Davis recorded team highs of five assists and four steals.

Mount Olive shot 51.4 percent (18-for-35) from the field in the second half and hit five of its final 11 three-point attempts after missing its first 10 shots behind the arc.

The Trojans trailed 63-45 midway through the second half before Moore drained three baskets and Davis buried a 3-pointer during a 9-0 run. The Indians (6-3) pushed their advantage back to double digits until McGee connected on back-to-back 3-pointers, which shaved the deficit to 67-62.

Catawba's Kisha Long answered with a 3-pointer, which started a short six-point run. McGee's old-fashioned, three-point play closed the gap to 74-67 with 1:07 left in regulation. The Indians scored the next nine points, including six from the free throw line before McGee's basket at the buzzer.

Mount Olive dropped its third road contest of the season.

The Trojans conclude their 2009 portion of their schedule at home Dec. 29 against in-state foe St. Augustine's. Tip-off is 2 p.m. at Kornegay Arena on the MOC campus.
