WANDA M. BEST

Aug. 18, 1952-July 13, 2018

Wanda Maples Best, LaGrange, passed away suddenly Friday, July 13, 2018, at her home.

She was born in Cameron, N.C., Aug.18, 1952, to the late James and Martha Price Maples

Wanda’s contagious smile and outgoing personality broke down barriers and opened doors to an exciting and fulfilled life.

She loved children, and for many years, her life was fulfilled dressing the many children whose parents shopped at Noah’s Nook, a fine children’s boutique in Goldsboro. Wanda enjoyed visiting with the many people who came into her store, and she developed many friendships that had lasted through the years.

She loved pulling people together for gatherings, and was always the life of the party.

Wanda brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met. We were lucky to have her in our lives, and she will be missed.

A service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Sherman Guthrie officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 35 years, Don Best; father-in-law, Winston Best; sister-in-law, Margaret Weaver; and cousin, J.B. Price and wife, Gwen.

She is also survived by special friends, Becky Mitchell and children, Alston and Lauren, Lee Jones Frederick and her grandchildren, Zachary and Tristan, Gloria Rouse and her church family at Beston United Methodist Church.

Wanda is also survived by the many friends and acquaintances she had made through the years, and she loved them all very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the apple of her eye, her precious son, Stephen James Minshew, and today we find comfort in knowing they are together again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Wanda’s memory to the Wayne Pregnancy Center, 3501 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
