BETSY WELLS SMITH

Betsy Holland Wells Smith, 77, Goldsboro, passed away early Sunday morning at Wayne UNC Hospital.
Betsy was born in Wayne County June 21, 1940, to the late James R. and Edna Kornegay Holland.
She enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends.
Betsy was a valued employee of the cafeteria at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of New Life Baptist Church
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Betsy’s life at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Varner and the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Wells Family Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be at the home Betsy and James.
Betsy is survived by her husband, James “Red” Smith; daughters, Metta Marie Wells Cuddington and husband, William Henry “Bill” Cuddington Jr., of Goldsboro and Betsy Diane Wells of Goldsboro; sons, Ralph Michael Wells of Saulston and David Morris Wells Sr. of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Michael Bruce Wells and wife, Jessie, Angel Kay Woodson, David Morris Wells Jr., Rosemarie Davette Wells Torres, Thomas Ralph Wells, William Henry Cuddington III and Joshua Wayne Wells; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Judy Price and husband, Jan, of Apex; brother, Jimmy Holland Sr. and wife, Susan, of Goldsboro; stepchildren, Angela S. Merritt, Amanda S. Lee and James Alan Smith; seven stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ralph Wells, and two brothers, Bobby Holland and Carroll Holland.
