Catherine Canady Parker, 101 years of age, of Goldsboro, died April 16, 2018.

Mrs. Parker was born in Kinston on Aug. 26, 1916, to the late James Herman Canady and Emily Humphries Pollock Canady. She grew up with her beloved sister, Agnes, surrounded by family and friends. She attended Kinston city schools and graduated from Meredith College in 1937.

After her marriage in 1943 to Francis Ogden Parker Sr., Catherine moved to Goldsboro and became a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. Catherine and Ogden enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his death in 1996. She loved her family and spent much of her life caring for her father, sister, husband, children and grandchildren. She also maintained business interests in Kinston and Lenoir County until late in her life.

She is survived by three sons, Francis Ogden Parker Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Daniels Parker, of Raleigh, John Burwell Parker and fiancée, Sharon Wilson Crawford, of Goldsboro, and James Canady Parker and wife, Mary Ann Mitchell Parker, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Agnes Parker Woltz and husband, Howard Osler Woltz III, of Mount Airy; grandchildren, John Burwell Parker Jr. of Raleigh, Elizabeth Parker Harris and husband, Durell Boyd Harris, of Raleigh, Catherine Parker Edmonson and husband, Chad Friddle Edmonson, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Wylie Fort Parker II and wife, Keeley Martin Parker, of New York, New York, Louise Woltz Smith and husband, Charles Lee Smith IV, of Richmond, Virginia, Parker Woltz Mackie and husband, George MacDonald Mackie V, of Washington, D.C., Charlotte Westbrook Woltz of London, England, and Agnes Reddin Woltz of Richmond, Virginia; great-grandchildren, John Fenton Harris, Evelyn Warmack Harris, Jackson Friddle Edmonson, Mary Catherine Edmonson, Reddin Camp Smith, Webb Woltz Smith and Wylie Speight Mackie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Ogden Parker Sr.; and her sister, Agnes Pollock Canady.

The family would like to express their thanks to Sylvia Shine, Joyce O'Handly, Janice Whittaker, Patricia Collins and Dorothy Littleton, and to the staff of Brookdale Berkeley Boulevard for their faithful caregiving.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Bardin officiating. The interment will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery prior to the service.

The family will receive friends following the service at First Presbyterian Church and on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Parker, 117 Pineridge Lane, Goldsboro.
