Judy Sutton Whitfield, 77, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Judy was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Lenoir County to the late Woodrow Sutton and Thelma Dupree Sutton.
Described as loving, strong, kind, loyal and compassionate, life for Judy revolved around taking care of her family. Nothing was more important to her than ensuring their happiness.
Judy loved spending time at the beach. Life's worries disappeared when she saw the beautiful North Carolina coast.
Judy had many fond memories of her G.E. family and the loving, lasting friendships formed during her working career.
Judy worked 36 years with General Electric, retiring in 2000.
She attended Walnut Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate and honor Judy's life will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
A beloved wife and mother, Judy is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Wayne Whitfield; son, Dwayne Whitfield and wife, Michelle; sister, Brenda S. Hines; special nephew, Kevin Whitfield; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Jennifer Whitfield, Rose Whitfield and Elton Whitfield; special family friend, Danny Taylor; and her beloved four-legged friends, Abby, Sylvester and Harley.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda S. Lean, and a brother, Jerry Sutton.
Judy's family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda Coor, Carrie Brown, Debbie Hall and the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the loving care provided to Judy and her family. Words can't begin to express our gratitude to this wonderful group of people.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday following the service.
