CLIFTON W. TOLER

Oct. 23, 1937-Feb. 14, 2018

Clifton W. Toler, beloved husband and father, entered this world Oct. 23, 1937, in New Bern, N.C., to Clem and Lena Toler.

He was called to his eternal resting place Feb. 14, 2018, at the age of 80.

Clifton was a former resident of Goldsboro, N.C., and recently resided in Selma, Texas.

Serving in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1976, Clifton was an officer, who retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service as a radar navigator on B-52s and B-58. He was also an elite member of the March 2 Club.

In addition to flying military aircraft, he was a private pilot, who enjoyed taking his family on trips in the airplane or in his boat.

Clifton enjoyed flying, boating, gardening and music. He was an avid gardener, who planted trees and flowers everywhere he lived.

He also played the guitar, violin, piano and banjo.

Clifton is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Dunn Toler; a son, Curtis Toler; a daughter, Lisa Toler Rascoe; six grandchildren, Bridget Toler, Kristin Toler Delancey, Grant Rascoe, Corbin Toler, April Sielck and Meredith Rascoe; and one great-grandchild, Lena Delancey.

Clifton is also survived by his sisters, Violet Berteaux, Peggy Pickering and Helen Conaway, and brothers, Larry Toler and Louis Toler.

Funeral services were held March 6, 2018, at Fort Sam Houston main post chapel, with interment and full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery of San Antonio, Texas.
