WILLIAM WALTER JOHNSON

William Walter Johnson, also known as "Bill" to his friends, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, in Goldsboro, N.C.
He lived a full life that began March 22, 1928, in Fort Payne, Ala.
For almost 60 years, he was married to the late Jean (Graver) Johnson, who preceded him in death Jan. 19, 2013.
Bill proudly served our country for 271/2 years, actively engaged in the Korean and Vietnam wars, initially in the Army, then the Army Air Forces and finally as an officer in the United States Air Force.
After getting his wings in 1954, he flew in the B-45 (Tornado) Bomber based out of England, where he met his wife Jean Graver.
Once he came back to the United States, the majority of his career was engaged as a radar navigator in the B-52 (Stratofortress) Bomber.
Upon retiring from the service, he taught computer programming at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, N.C., for 11 years.
Mr. Johnson will receive a full honors military funeral, and graveside services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Jeannie J. Langnau and Celia A. Pfautz; son, Paul W. Johnson; grandchildren, Kelly Rousseau, Jessica Johnson and Christopher Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Lorelei Rousseau.
Both Bill and Jean Johnson were active supporters of the Red Cross, and participated in numerous bloodmobile and educational events.
