SYBIL C. KILLETTE

April 18, 1933-March 5, 2018

Sybil Carlyle Killette, LaGrange, peacefully received her heavenly call Monday, March 5, 2018.

Sybil was born April 18, 1933, in Lenoir County to the late Levi and Effie Grady Carlyle.

Her husband of 65 years, Robie B. Killette, preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2017.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Sybil's life revolved around serving her Lord and taking care of her family.

She loved being in the country and the life of a farmer's wife.

Sybil took great pride in the appearance of her home, and especially enjoyed home decorating.

Always immaculately dressed, Sybil always wanted to look her best.

Sybil's family has many fond memories of gathering around her table to enjoy good ole country cooking. Her fried chicken, side meat, collards, potato salad and chicken salad always brought a smile to everyone sitting at her table.

Her bright smile, positive outlook and witty personality endeared her to all who crossed her path.

She loved the beauty of the Christmas season, and anything made with chocolate always put a sparkle in her eye.

Sybil was a longtime member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church. She taught the Adult Sunday school class for many years. Her faith in God, belief in the Bible and her strong belief in the power of prayer were a constant source of strength and guidance throughout her life.

A service to celebrate and remember Sybil's life will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 7 p.m. from LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie V. Hobgood officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.

Sybil is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Kornegay and husband, Gary; son, Robie B. Killette Jr. and wife, Eloise; nine grandchildren, Brandon Wade and wife, Kristy, Matthew Wade and wife, Kim, Amber Hatcher, Hoyt Killette, Steve Killette and wife, Leah, Tara Dail Minder and husband, Brian, Ethan Dail, Shawn Tilghman and husband, Ben, and Samuel Kornegay and wife, Amy; 13 great-grandchildren, McKinnon Wade, Aiden Wade, Alyssa Hatcher, Christian Heath, Bella Heath, Faith Minder, Marisa Austin, Ryan Minder, Evan Minder, Kaitlyn Minder, Bailey Tilghman, Cooper Tilghman and Andrew Kornegay; and two sisters, Grace Herring and Clemmie White.
