B. DELL BROADWELL SR.

Aug. 24, 1926-Feb. 12, 2018

Bertram Dell Broadwell, 91, Seven Springs, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 12, 2018.

Dell was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Polk County, Fla., to the late Walter Broadwell and Artie Chancey Broadwell.

His wife of 58 years, Elaine Rouse Broadwell; son, Bertram Dell Broadwell Jr.; and two siblings, James Walter Broadwell and Yvonne Pate Broadwell; preceded him in death.

Dell served his beloved country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He retired from E.I. DuPont, where he worked for more than 37 years.

Dell was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.

He was a member of Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge.

A quiet man and one might say somewhat stubborn, Dell was one to never say no and was always available.

Remembered by family as a nurturer, Dell believed in taking care of his family and always being there.

Dell enjoyed tackling home projects, and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed figuring out solutions to whatever wasn't working properly. With Dell, as long as it worked, he didn't really care about the appearance of the repair.

A service to celebrate and honor Dell's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. from Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.

Dell is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Broadwell Davis and husband, Timothy; two grandchildren, Tara Daye and husband, Roger, and Lindsay Davis; three great-grandchildren, Cole Kilian, Lara Elaine Kilian and Jesse Bennett Ash; brother, Guerry Broadwell; sister, Ylanta Dixon; and his beloved canine companion, Aslan.

Dell's family will receive family and friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.

Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, c/o Sylvan Hardy, 5081 Barber Road, Seven Springs, N.C., 28578.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
