Summer Dawn McHarney, age 44, a resident of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Union Grove Church of Christ, 6889 N.C. Highway 99 North, Pantego, conducted by Scott Askew.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ms. McHarney was born in Washington, N.C., on June 4, 1973. She was the daughter of Charles Levernon McHarney III and Mary Olive Allen.
Ms. McHarney lived most of her life in Wake County. She was an outstanding scholar in high school and college, receiving a mathematics award from N.C. State. In her spare time, Ms. McHarney loved to read, dance and play the piano.
Ms. McHarney is survived by her father, Charles Levernon McHarney III of Goldsboro; stepmother, Sophie McHarney of Goldsboro; mother, Mary Olive Allen of Raleigh; brother, Charles L. McHarney IV and his wife, Melissa, of West End, N.C.; and three nieces, Caelan McHarney, Callie McHarney and Conlyn McHarney all of West End.
