Donny Earl Jones, 73, Kenly, passed away suddenly Friday morning at his home.
Donny was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Johnston County, to the late Raeford Timer and Hettie Hicks Jones. He was a retired school teacher after working many years in the public school system.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service, followed by a service in the chapel, with Dr. Timothy Webber officiating. Burial will conclude the services in Evergreen Cemetery.
Donny is survived by his nephews, Wayne Strickland and wife, Linda, of Greensboro, Billy Strickland and wife, Nancy, of Carolina Beach, Ronnie Bass of Lucama, Danny Bass of Lucama, and Larry Bass of Wilson; nieces, Faye Rose and husband, Roger, of Florida, Connie Colston and husband, Keith, of Blounts Creek, and Renee Barnes and husband, Scott, of Wilson, Betty Holcomb and, Ronald, of Lucama, Dottie Hill and husband, Raymond, of Douglas, Ga., and Nell Boyette and husband, Charles, of Knightdale; 13 great-nieces and nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 17 great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Jones Gurley, Inez Jones and Lela Jones Strickland; brothers, Tilmer Jones Jr., J.R. Jones, Paul Jones, James Jones and Charles Edward Jones; and stepnephews, Wayne Bass and Dennis Bass.
