Elder Lee Arthur Jones, 54, lovingly known by his family members and friends as "Elder," 1365B Parkstown Road, LaGrange, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
Lee was born in Wayne County, N.C., March 31, 1963, to the late Mr. Leo W. Jones and Mrs. Juanta Rowe-Jones.
During elder Jones' dating years, he met, dated and married Mrs. Velma Jones, and to that union, four children were born.
Elder Jones was a member of Taylor's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, N.C., where he served as the assistant pastor.
During minister Jones' working years, he worked as a self-employed truck driver for many years.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Taylor's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, N.C. Pastor Joseph A. Headen Jr. will officiate.
Interment will follow in Old Mill Cemetery, 1295 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
Elder Jones leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his devoted wife, Mrs. Velma J. Jones of the home; his daughters, LeVonda Jones, Shavonda Jones and Radaysha Jones; his son, Lee Arthur Tyshaun Jones; his nine grandchildren; his brothers, Earl Miller and Arthur Lee Jones; his sister, Glenda Parks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Velma Jones, 1365B Parkstown Road, LaGrange, N.C., at 12:45 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C., beginning Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
