Mary Alice Worley Wadsworth Woodruff, age 69, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Born Sept. 23, 1948, in Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert Otis and Martha O. Braswell Worley. She was a member of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield. Alice retired from Wayne Community College after over 40 years of service and was an outstanding chief financial officer for Eastern USA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, in Tee’s Chapel FWB Church, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday morning in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening just prior to the service.
Surviving are her husband, Jodie “Woody” Woodruff; daughter, Dolly Evans of Alderson, W.Va.; grandchildren, Hunter Evans and Katlyn Almon; great-grandson, Dakota; sister, Marie Lewis and husband, David, of Pikeville; brother, James Worley of Smithfield; stepson, Christopher Robin Woodruff and wife, Joyce, of Goldsboro; stepgrandson, Cody Goff; and step-great-granddaughter, Jordan.
