CHRISTOPHER BRIAN JOHNSON

Died Aug. 11, 2017

Christopher Brian Johnson, 45, resident of the Oak Ridge community near Mount Olive, passed away suddenly Friday evening, Aug. 11, 2017, after returning home from a normal day of work.

Chris, as he was known by both friends and family, was a graduate of Southern Wayne High School with the class of 1990. He then attended Mount Olive College.

He was employed with Gately Communications, working out of its Kinston branch.

Surviving Chris are his wife, Sharon Wheeler Johnson; daughter, Olivia Nicole Allen; son, Connor Ashton Johnson all of the home; his parents, Jesse and Margie Sutton Johnson of Seven Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Mindy J. and Mike Marcin of Calypso; maternal grandparents, William and Peggy Sutton of LaGrange; parents-in-law, Clifton and Audrey Jones Wheeler of Mount Olive; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Emily Wheeler of Mitchell, Ind.; nieces and nephews, Michael and Emilee Marcin, Sam Westfall and Aidan Wheeler; several aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Sutton and Johnson families; and Sharon's aunt and uncle, who were quite special to Chris, Harriet "Pee Wee" Wheeler of Mount Olive and LeRoy Wheeler also of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Angie Johnson.

Chris, a quiet man who loved the simple life, enjoyed fishing, "gaming" on his cell phone, racing radio-controlled cars and talking "smack" with his family.

Special to him was time spent with his "best bud," son, Connor, and they often talked about "Star Wars" and "Thomas the Train."

He was a wonderful son, husband, daddy, brother, uncle, grandson and son-in-law.

He will be sorely missed, but his family has assurance of his belief in Christ, and is comforted in knowing he's now in the Lord's holy presence.

The Johnson family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times, the family is at the Clifton and Audrey Wheeler residence.

With respect to the family's wishes, the graveside service will be held privately.

For those wishing to contribute to a memorial fund instead of sending flowers, please consider the Connor Johnson Educational Fund, Wells Fargo Bank, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

A Tyndall service.
