Leland James Toler Jr., 74, Mount Olive, N.C., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, in Lynchburg, Va., with his daughter, Bridget, at his side.

Leland was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Johnston County, N.C., a son of the late Leland James Toler Sr. and Arabia Mae Langston Toler King.

Leland honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and achieved the rank of chief petty officer (retired).

He was a gifted marine electrician, and could accomplish anything working with his hands.

He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Hubble-Carson and her husband, Patrick, of Lynchburg, Va.; his granddaughter, Meagan Giron and her husband, Alex, of Lynchburg; four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Natalia, Patrick and Bridget; three sisters, Martha Wolf, Nora Tipton and Ruby Tobin; five brothers, Larry Toler, Samuel Toler, Danny Toler, Jack Toler and Michael King; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Princeton Cemetery of Princeton, N.C., with pastor Raymond Russell officiating.
