Joseph Albert James Jr., Clayton, died unexpectedly July 25, 2017.

Joe was born in Goldsboro, N.C., June 5, 1972, to Vern Barfield James (Sells) and Joseph Albert James Sr.

He was a plumbing contractor and the owner of Clayton Plumbing Co.

Joe lived most of his life in the Goldsboro area.

He was a generous and loving father, son and family man. His dedication to his immediate family was almost matched by his love and attention to his extended family, and all are heartbroken by his loss.

He was a master pig cooker, and a private service to celebrate his life was held July 29, 2017, at "Joe's Hog Hut" in Pikeville.

Joe is survived by his mother, Vern Sells; his minor daughters, Charlotte and Sara James; one brother, Jeffrey James (Helga); sister, Anne Nunez (Arthur), sister, Brandy Arteno; and by his fianceé, Brandy Hinnant and her sons, Rickie and Liam.

He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. "Buster" James.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family will be creating a trust for the benefit of his daughters.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
