ALTON NOWLIN "SALTY" WYATT

Alton Nowlin "Salty" Wyatt, 93, Lawrenceville, Ga., died July 26, 2017.

Salty was the first baby born in Memphis, Tenn., in 1924, was a Purple Heart recipient from the World War II Battle of the Bulge and a POW in Germany.

After the war he resumed his military career as an Air Force pilot. He retired as a major in 1964.

He then made a second career as a gentleman banker with Wachovia Bank in Goldsboro, N.C.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lillian W. Wyatt of 74 years; son, Ed Wyatt (Lynn) of Johns Creek, Ga.; daughter, Patricia Knoll (Stanley) of McLean, Va.; daughter, Leslie Kunkel (Steve) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and grandchildren, Robert Wyatt (Jennifer) and their children, Thomas and Maddie, Douglas Wyatt (Shehla) and their children, Arshan and Rafeh, Andrew Wyatt (Amber) and their children, Ashley and Ally, Christy Kunkel (Daniel) and their son, Ethan, David Knoll (Christina) and their daughter,
Virginia, Daniel Knoll (Baylor) and their son, Wyatt, and Michael Knoll (Becki).

Salty was predeceased by his parents, Blanche Chadwick Wyatt and Alton Beckwith Wyatt, and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Kunkel.

A service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery of Arlington, Va.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to your local public library; Salty was a passionate reader all his life.
