LARRY RAY SMITH

Larry Ray Smith, 69, resident of the Mount Olive area in the Rones Chapel community, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, at home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with pastor Stanley Kelly officiating, followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.

Larry was retired from the Boling Co. with 40 years of service, first as a machinist and later as department supervisor, and he also had served in the North Carolina National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray Smith and Edna Earle Swinson Smith, and a brother, Royce Lynn Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Williams Smith; his daughter, Vickie Smith Mutter and husband, Nathan; his son, Michael Smith and wife, Suzanne; two grandchildren, Sara Grace Smith and Natalie Rose Mutter all of the Rones Chapel community; his sister, Joyce Smith Massey and husband, Warren, of Wendell and their family; and his mother-in-law, Betty Faye Williams of Mount Olive, her sons, Randy and Sandy, and their families.
