ELVIN A. TYSON

Mr. Elvin Albert Tyson, 73, Snow Hill, died Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center.
A native of Greene County, he was born March 28, 1944, the son of Robert "Buck" and Annie Laurie Tyson.
An electrician by profession and trade, Elvin owned and operated the former Eastern Control Systems before his retirement.
He was a member of Grimsley Original Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served in several church offices.
His surviving family includes his wife, Sandra Shingleton Tyson of the home; daughter, Tonya Tyson and companion, Scott Morrison, of Goldsboro; son, Chad Tyson and wife, Amy, of Snow Hill; granddaughters, Ashley Tyson of Goldsboro and her companion, Eric Hudson, of Sandy Bottom and Paige Tyson and Hayleigh Tyson both of Snow Hill; sisters, Nancy T. Murphy and Annette T. Taylor and husband, Gary, both of Snow Hill; and a brother, Bobby Tyson and wife, Barbara, of Snow Hill.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Keith Phillips and the Rev. Todd Sutton officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home, 103 Edgemont Drive in Snow Hill.
