DARWIN EVANS

Dec. 4, 1932-July 7, 2017

Darwin Evans, native of Magnolia and longtime resident of Mount Olive and owner/operator of Evans Inc., passed away quietly early Friday morning, July 7, at his home. He was 84 years old.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive, and had a long tenure of service as Sunday school secretary. For the Baptist men's fellowship, he could always be counted on to have the coffee ready when the rest arrived.

His life will be remembered in a service to be held Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate. Interment will follow at Devotional Gardens at Warsaw.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Life Center at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 239, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Dorothea Draughon Evans of the home; two sons, Rickie Evans and wife, Lisa, of Wilmington and Ronnie Evans of Dudley; two daughters, Patricia E. Rhew and husband, Robert, of Fuquay-Varina and Tammy E. Vail and husband, Tom, of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a special son, William Quinn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Evans and Bertha Batts Evans; brothers, Stacy, Ed, Wendell, Harold and John Evans; and a sister, Eldred Wells.

A Tyndall service.
