EDNA C. PRICE

Sept. 20, 1924-June 20, 2017

Edna Creech "Ma" Price, 92, Seven Springs, peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Edna was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Wayne County to the late Benjamin Creech and Lula Winders Creech.

She was wife of the late John Charles Price Jr., and was preceded in death by a son, J.B. Price, and a daughter-in-law, Velma Price.

Life for Edna revolved around her faith and her family.

Known as "Ma" to everyone, Edna endeared herself to all with her sweet smile and warm hugs. Fiercely independent and strong willed, Edna relished her role as matriarch of the family. Her happiest moments were when all the family was gathered together.

Edna believed in hard work, and often talked about never needing a nap during the day. Most days were spent working in the yard or tending to the garden.

In the fall, Ma could often be found in the yard raking and burning leaves.

Edna was a gifted seamstress, and her family has many fond memories of her cooking. Nothing was better to her family than sitting around her table enjoying a home cooked meal. Her chocolate cakes were famous in the area, and at the urging of family, she entered one in last year's fair and won a second place ribbon. Edna often used her gift of cooking to minister to others.

Edna was a longtime member of Seven Springs Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate and honor Edna's life will be held Friday, June 23, 2017, at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Rick Rigney officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from Grady Family Cemetery.

Edna is survived by three children, Brenda Moore and husband, Shelton, Donald Price and wife, Linda, and Glenn Price and wife, Cathy; six grandchildren, Suzanne Harrell and husband, Richard, Gary Price and wife, Christen, Teresa Creel and husband, Danny, Melissa Brock and husband, Daniel, Ashley Price and John Price; along with nine great-grandchildren.

Ma's family will receive friends Friday following the service and at other times, the family will be at the home.
