ALLISON NICOLE MCCULLEN THOMAS

ALLISON NICOLE MCCULLEN THOMAS

Sept. 6, 1975-June 17, 2017

Allison Nicole McCullen Thomas passed away Saturday night, June 17, at her parents' home after a five-year courageous battle with colon cancer.

Born Sept. 6, 1975, in Wayne County to parents, Billy Wayne and Connie Thompson McCullen of Princeton, she was a preschool speech pathologist with Wayne County Public Schools, and a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church, where she was co-director of Youth Ministries.

Allison always saw the cup as half full instead of half empty from a very young age, and continued on with this philosophy throughout her life, including her daily trials with cancer. She tackled cancer as she did everything else, with the determination to live and enjoy life.

Allison, a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, will be remembered as an inspiration for all by those who knew her because of her positive outlook on life.

Her attitude, along with her infectious smile and outgoing personality, invited people to love her, and loved she was by so many.

As one of her friends stated, "Allison made our little part of the world a much better place, and the world would be an even better place if we had more Allison Thomases around."

In addition to her parents, Allison is survived by her husband, Michael Thomas; three sons, Gray, Cole and Nick Thomas; brother, Tim McCullen all of Princeton; mother-in-law, Cindy Thomas of Granite Quarry, N.C.; and father-in-law, Mike Thomas of Granite Quarry, N.C.

She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Blanche Thompson of Princeton, and paternal grandparents, the Rev. Billie and Gladys McCullen of Grantham.

A memorial service in celebration of Allison's life will be held at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Eric Packard officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service in the narthex of the church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the college fund set up for Allison's three young sons. Checks may be made payable to Fellowship United Methodist Church, Thomas College Fund, and mailed to Fellowship United Methodist Church, c/o Caroline Corey, 5755 Rains Crossroads Road, Princeton, N.C., 27569.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
