WILLIE MYRTLE BELL 'BILL' KORNEGAY

March 7, 1921-June 17, 2017

Willie Myrtle Bell “Bill” Kornegay, age 96, died Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Carrie Bell, and wife of the late Jack Moore Kornegay Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Matthew Kornegay; and a granddaughter, Karen Danette Kornegay.

She was a longtime member of Dudley Christian Church and a former member of the Dudley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Dudley Community Crime Watch.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Blane Smith officiating.

Family members will greet friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of her son.

Mrs. Kornegay is survived by her son, Jack M. Kornegay Jr.; grandchildren, Kim Kornegay Brock and husband, Nickie, and Kevin Jack Kornegay and wife, Misty; and a great-granddaughter, Courtney Faith Brock.
