JAMES DERWOOD DAWSON SR.

James Derwood Dawson Sr., age 85, died Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Lee Ashton and Ruth Grant Dawson, and was the husband of the late JoAnn Brogden Dawson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wade Parker and the Rev. Kenneth Stevens officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Wayne Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Derwood retired from Live Wire Electric Company as an electrician and enjoyed farming during his leisure time.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Derwood Dawson Jr. and Tony, and Kaye Dawson, all of Goldsboro.
