PEGGY ROBERTS QUINN

Nov. 12, 1930-June 5, 2017

Peggy Roberts Quinn, 86, a lifelong resident of the Beautancus community in Duplin County, passed peacefully June 5, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice -- Dr. Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion in Wilmington after having lived a successful and fulfilling life.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Jeff Dail officiating.

Family visitation will follow the service.

Preceding Peggy in death were her husband of 63 years, Aubrey Daniel "A.D." Quinn; parents, Margaret and Edward Gasby "Ned" Roberts; three sisters, Jim Hazel Stroud, Flora Ann Watson and Nancy Sue Kornegay; and a grandson, Garrett Keith Ostheim.

She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Quinn and husband, John Grigsby, of Leland and Phillis Ostheim and husband, Mark, of the Beautancus community; five grandchildren and their families, including Christel Ostheim Mozingo and husband, Graham, Joshua Brown, Amber Ostheim Talton and husband, Jason, Bethany Brown and Crystal Prince Ostheim, widow of the late Garrett Ostheim; two great-granddaughters, Brianna Mozingo and Aubrey Ostheim; and a brother, Preston Royall and his wife, Thelma.

Peggy was an avid gardener who loved flowers, and her yard usually had something blooming year round.

When not working the yard, she would be involved in crafts in her "Peggy's Playhouse" building. Her favorite activity was making quilts, but she also excelled in sewing, decorating cakes, creating wall hangings, embroidering, making wreaths and arranging flowers.

Having an eye for detail and design, she was gifted in interior decorating, and seemed to know just where things should be placed for aesthetic appeal.

She loved to travel, and visited 17 states while on multigenerational vacations with her daughters. After each trip, she scrapbooked the memories.

With a project always in mind, she approached life with a can-do attitude and belief in hard work to accomplish goals.

Peggy retired from Burlington Industries in 1990 having climbed the corporate ladder to become the lead manufacturing supervisor.

Private family interment services, for both Peggy and her late husband, A.D., will be held at Roberts Family Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the A.D. and Peggy Quinn Endowment at James Sprunt Community College Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 398, Kenansville, N.C., 28349, or Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, 28365.
