Arvel Ray “Blackie” Spain Jr., 71, Smithfield, died at home Sunday.
Memorial service will be May 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Yelverton Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church of Smithfield.
He was born Nov. 11, 1945, the son of the late Arvel Ray Sr. and Mary Wilma Roach Spain.
He is survived by a son and two daughters.
