MARY ROSE PEACOCK ANDREWS

March 2, 1954-April 22, 2017

Mary Rose Peacock Andrews passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Mary was born March 2, 1954, in Wilson, N.C., the daughter of the late James Edward Peacock and Nancy Rose Peacock.

Mary was raised in Fremont, N.C., and was a graduate of Peace College and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 41 years, Richard C. Andrews Jr.; their two beautiful daughters, Allison Andrews Goodson (Will) of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Robin Andrews Mortenson (Doug) of Boulder, Colo.; and three grandchildren, who were the light and loves of her life, James William Goodson, Louise Rose Goodson and Mack Andrews Goodson.

Also surviving are her siblings, Kay P. Steinfeld (Harvey) of Annapolis, Md., Dr. James E. Peacock Jr. (Patti) of Winston-Salem, N.C., and John R. Peacock of Birmingham, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; her most favorite cousin, Lucy Peacock Skinner of Alexandria, Va.; her mother-in-law, Joan Andrews; brother-in-law, Scot Andrews (Teresa); and sister-in-law, Laura Gainey (Charles) all of Wilmington.

Mary was a woman of strong faith and an active member of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church.

She was also involved in her community in the Junior League for many years, volunteering in the NHC school system and more recently on the boards of LCFH and She Rocks.

Her greatest love, however, was for her family and friends, and she worked tirelessly and gave graciously to ensure that she enriched each of their lives in so many ways. She brought a light into the lives of many, yet she was so humble and unaware of the impact she often had on people. She was just being Mary.

A service to honor and remember her life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church. Please consider wearing something “teal”-colored to honor Mary’s dedication to supporting ovarian cancer research.

The family will greet friends in Brown Hall immediately following the church service.

A private interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to She Rocks Ovarian Cancer Research, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, N.C., 28402; St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1416 Market St., Wilmington, N.C., 28401; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C., 28401.

Condolences may be made at Andrewmortuary.com.
