L. STONEY HINSON

Linwood Stoney Hinson, 66, passed away quietly early Easter Sunday morning, April 16, 2017, at home in the rural Mount Olive community known as Doodletown.

Stoney's working career was that of being a millwright, and he was known for his superb skills in building or repairing most things.

He was an avid animal lover, and his benevolence for helping the less fortunate was noticed by those who knew him best.

Stoney is survived by a daughter, Mary Azam McGinn, and two grandchildren, Riley and Kegan McGinn all of Jacksonville; his parents, Levy and Joyce Evelyn Outlaw Hinson of the home; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon H. and Randy Patterson of Albertson, Lori H. and Michael Ingalls of Kinston and Fran H. and Ricky Bostic of Kenansville; a sister-in-law, Kay Hinson of Mount Olive, widow of deceased brother, Michael Hinson; several nieces and nephews; and several aunts and an uncle.

Funeral services for Stoney will be Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Mark Hobbs, with visitation afterward. Burial will be Wednesday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Trail of Peace Burial Grounds on the family farm.
