GERALDINE M. BARFIELD

Geraldine Mason Barfield, 79, of Goldsboro, N.C., passed away Sunday afternoon at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Wayne County, she is the daughter of the late Bert and Esther Etheridge Mason, and wife of the late Marvin Barfield. Mrs. Barfield was a paper carrier for the News Argus.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday in Wayne Memorial Park at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Sam Barfield officiating.
Mrs. Barfield is survived by a son, Randy Evans of the home; daughters, Sheila Evans Esquivel of Goldsboro and Gail Scarborough of Princeton; a daughter-in-law, Jean Evans of Goldsboro; a brother, Paul Mason of Goldsboro; a sister, Viola Pate (Chris) of Kinston; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith (Peter) of Missouri, Elizabeth Davis (Steven) of Grantham, Chris Evans (Emily) of Snow Hill, Staci Griffith (Tyler) of Princeton, and Jason Scarborough (Kelsey) of Fort Bragg; great grandchildren, Abby Smith, Cooper Smith, Myles Davis, Alex Davis, Colby Barry, Camdyn Griffith, Jackson Scarborough and Emersyn Scarborough; and step-children, Kenneth Barfield, Larry Barfield, Bonnie McLawhorn, Joyce Lee, Lynette Ipock, Ruby Kay Phillips, Joe Hemby, and Marilyn Burns.
Mrs. Barfield was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Barfield; son, Michael R. Evans; son-in-law, Jody Scarborough; brothers, John (Bud) Mason and Roy Lee Mason; and sisters, Ruby Sasser Ryan and Doris Shipman.
