Mrs. Martha Lee Sutton Johnson, 91, Snow Hill, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
Born April 10, 1925, to Jim and Martha Taylor Sutton, she was the last of their surviving children.
Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Greene County and longtime member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
A homemaker and farmer's wife, she was very devoted to both her immediate and extended family.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cornelius Johnson, and a grandson, Danny McNeil "Neil" Johnson.
Her surviving family includes her son, Danny Johnson and wife, Janice, of Snow Hill; grandsons, Allen Johnson and wife, Michelle, of Goldsboro and Jay Tyson and wife, Mary, of Farmville; great-grandchildren, Brittany Johnson, Seth Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Anna Tyson and Chelsea Tyson; one great-great-grandchild, Jayden; sisters-in-law, Evelyn J. Chase of Snow Hill, Blanche J. Head of Newport News, Va., and Rose Sutton of Elm City, who was especially devoted to Mrs. Johnson; and several nieces and nephews of the Sutton and Johnson families.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with Rev. Danny Hamm and the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Committal services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Snow Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Saturday and other times at the home of Danny and Janice Johnson, 22 Mooring Lane, Snow Hill.
