FRITZ L. 'BILL' SHANLE

Aug. 21, 1939-March 11, 2017

Fritz L. "Bill" Shanle, of Rosewood, N.C., 77, went to be with his savior Jesus and loving wife, Rose, on March 11, 2017, surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was born on Aug. 21, 1939 in Lincoln, Ill., and was the son of Raymond and Louise Shanle of Buffalo, Ill. He had six sisters; and 5 brothers, all living within 30 miles of the home farm in Buffalo.

Bill served eight years active duty with the Air Force and upon his discharge, made his home in Goldsboro, N.C., where he met his wife, Rose, and was happily married almost 60 years.

He also served 12 years in the Army Active Reserves. Bill's employment was with Wayne Memorial Hospital as a medical attendant supervisor, Kemp Furniture Industries as a long-distance truck driver, and he retired from the Goldsboro News-Argus with 24 years of service.

He accepted Jesus as his savior on April 24, 1965, and became a member of the Church of God the following Sunday.

He is survived by his four children, daughters, Angela Morlock, Sandra Colgan, and Loretta Humbert (W.C.); son, Gary Shanle (Diana); eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements prepared by Howell Funeral Home. His homegoing service will be held Wednesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center, 900 W. New Hope Road.

The burial and graveside service will be held immediately after the service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
