EUGENE A. SPAINHOUR

Eugene "Gene" A. Spainhour, 74, Goldsboro, died Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Forsyth County, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Connie W. Kiger Spainhour.
A member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Bill Rose officiating.
Family members will greet friends immediately following the service in the church foyer. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mike and Shannon Raper, 2512 Bradford Place, Goldsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Spainhour; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Mike Raper; three granddaughters, Ann-Marie, Adrienne and Gracie; father-in-law, Floyd Howell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Tim Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dexter and Joan Howell.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Spainhour, and his mother-in-law, Betty Howell.
The Spainhour family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Robert Dunmire, Dr. Oliver Tu, Dr. I-Wen Chang and Community Home Care and Hospice for the exceptional care given to Gene during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro.
