Mildred Joyce "Judy" Gibson Hudson, 73, Goldsboro, was called home Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord while surrounded by her family.
Judy was born in St. Joseph, Mo., Jan. 2, 1944, to the late Robert and Mildred Steeby Gibson.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Judy was devoted to her church, served as a leader of the Joy Club and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
She was employed for many years as a retail specialist with American Greetings.
Judy was adored by her family, for whom she was a source of joy and strength, but also by countless others, from old friends to new acquaintances, all of whom were struck by her quiet generosity.
Judy cherished her husband, and was role model to her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
A service celebrating Judy's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sandy Schaller officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Hudson; daughters, Kimberly Bunch and husband, Ben, of Lees Summit, Mo., and Kathy Jo Rutherford and husband, Terry, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kailey B. Bean (Burton), Rachel Bunch, Jacob Rutherford and Shaylie Rutherford; brother, Jay Gibson; and sisters, Karla Schaefer and Penny Barnett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Sarah Amila Bunch (Sarah Bear), and five of her siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Salem United Methodist Church, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
