EXCELL C. DUNCAN

Excell Clark Duncan, 92, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Excell was born in Durham County Oct. 27, 1924, to the late Luther Marion Duncan and Minnie Belle Clark Duncan.

He was married to the late Juanita Burns Duncan, who preceded him in death Feb. 28, 2015.

Excell proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years.

He was a member of Cherrydale Bible Church in Arlington, Via.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Excell's life at 3 p.m. in the chapel, with Dale Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Excell is survived by his daughters, Debbie Cook and husband, Barney, of Goldsboro and Donna Smith and husband, Greg, of Lewisville; sister, Agnes D. Powell of Durham; five grandchildren, Erika Hawkins and husband, Jason, Rebecca Gregory and husband, Shawn, John Costigan and wife, Kristin, Joe Costigan and wife, Tina, and Janet Costigan and husband, Chris; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Excell was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Costigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Alzheimer's North Carolina Inc., 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, N.C., 27609.
