Vernal Barden, 49, Snellville, Ga., formerly of Duplin County, died Saturday at Eastside Medical Center.
Funeral will be Saturday at noon at First Baptist Church Kenansville. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
Born in Duplin County, he was the son of Delois Barden and the late James H. Barden, and husband of Charlinda M. Barden.
Five children survive.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home chapel, with the family present 6 to 7. At other times, the family will be at 237 Perry Miller Road, Kenansville.
