JANICE ROSE ANDREWS

Died Dec. 11, 2016

Janice Rose Andrews passed away Dec. 11, 2016, at The Cypress Rosewood Health Center of Raleigh, N.C., after a lengthy period of declining health.

She was a native of Goldsboro, N.C., and the daughter of the late Lucile Rose and Emory E. Andrews.

After graduating from Goldsboro High School, she attended Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C.

She then began a 30-year career with the federal government as a computer systems analyst in Washington, D.C., and Denver, Colo., from which she retired.

She then worked in the same capacity for Getty Oil Co. in Denver prior to returning to North Carolina.

In North Carolina, she was employed by the Department of Public Instruction and Department of Health and Human Services Medical Assistance Division as a computer systems analysis.

A service celebrating Janice's life will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, following the Sunday worship service at Goldsboro Friends Meeting, 1800 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, with George Strickland officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Interment will conclude the service at Salem Cemetery.

A memorial service will also be held Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Cypress Rosewood Health Center in Raleigh, with Dr. Peter Burgess officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Roger G. Andrews of Raleigh, N.C.

Also her sisters, Janet Nichols (her twin) of Mount Airy, N.C., Adrene Brown of Tangier, Ind., Elizabeth Bartle of Raleigh, N.C., and Louise Clark of Raleigh, N.C., and her brother, W.E. Bud Andrews of Smithfield, N.C.

In addition, she is survived by eight nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

A gentle woman, she was ever faithful to the inner light and Society of Friends teachings (Quakers), having been a birthright and lifelong member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting of Goldsboro, N.C.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Cypress-Rosewood Health Center for the gracious and wonderful attention given to Janice during the time she was in their care. We are most grateful for your gentle and loving thoughtfulness and care.

Also, thanks to Transitions Life Care of Raleigh for its compassionate support at this most difficult time.
