ARLIE MCLEROY FERRELL

Oct. 25, 1945-Dec. 11, 2016

Arlie McLeroy Ferrell, Pikeville, was called home Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, after a long sickness.

The life she lived, one of grace and Christian love, could not be diminished by the sickness that she endured. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone who knew her.

Arlie was born in Wayne County Oct. 25, 1945, to the late Raymond and Lillie Beasley McLeroy.

She had worked as a substitute teacher with Wayne County Public Schools for many years, and was a member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Arlie was the rock of her family; her husband, son and grandchildren knew that she loved them with all her heart and truly was a blessing to them.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating her life at 7 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. John Massengill and the Rev. Charles Lucas officiating.

The family will also greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Interment will be Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Arlie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Ferrell; son, Timmy Ferrell and wife, Donnie Lane, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Blake Ferrell and wife, Robin, and Jenna Smith and husband, Dirk; and her great-grandchildren and the apple of her eye, Turner Ferrell and Josie Smith.

She is also survived by her sister, Sally Horne of Pikeville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Kirkland.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, N.C., 27830.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
