FRANCES SASSER SALT

Frances Sasser Salt, 93, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Frances was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Lenoir County to the late Lawrence Russell and Lucille Fordham Russell.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Sasser Jr. and Al Salt.

Frances proudly served her country in the United States Navy.

Following her marriage to John R. Sasser Jr., Frances assisted her husband in the family business, Sasser Lumber Co.

Frances last worked as a nurse at Howell’s Child Care Center.

Frances loved her church, and was a longtime member of LaGrange United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for more than 50 years.

Frances was passionate about quilting, and was a member of Neuse Quilters Guild.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Ray Teague officiating.

Frances is survived by her son, Steve Sasser and wife, Bailey; three grandchildren, Rachel Sasser, Patrick Sasser and Mary Frances Lanier; sister, Ruth Prunski; and three brothers, Curtis Russell, Max Russell and Gene Russell.

Frances was also preceded in death by two children, John Robert Sasser III and Barbara Sasser Lanier.

Friends will be received at the home, 101 Rosedale Ave., LaGrange, and following the graveside service.
