MR. CHARLES NORMAN SHAW

Mr. Charles Norman Shaw, 70, New York, N.Y., formerly of Goldsboro, N.C., passed Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at St. Albans Veterans Hospital in Queens, N.Y.
Mr. Shaw was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Goldsboro to Norman and Nora Hobbs Shaw.
Charles graduated from Dillard High School class of 1964, and went on to attend St. Augustine College of Raleigh, N.C.
He was drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, and worked at UPS for more than 40 years before retiring.
He leaves behind one brother, Jerry B. Shaw of Bowie, Md.; one sister, Kim S. Early of Goldsboro, N.C.; two nieces, Carla Early of Alexandria, Va., and Carmille Early of Atlanta, Ga.; his longtime companion, Denise Riley of New York, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Unity Funeral Chapel, 2352 8th Ave., New York, N.Y., Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, with elder Leo Deans officiating. Interment will be Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Eastern Carolina State Veteran Cemetery, 164 Long's Plant Farm Road of Goldsboro, at 10 a.m.
A public visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro.
