Robert Everette "Bob" Blackman Sr., 80, Goldsboro, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Wayne County, N.C., Aug. 28, 1935, to the late Edgar Blackman Sr. and Ophelia Stevens Blackman.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and retired after 20 years of service.
Bob was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Walter Sloan officiating. Interment will follow at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Christian Powell officiating.
Bob is survived by wife, Brenda Dunlap Blackman; children, Kay Price of Pikeville, Robert Blackman Jr. (Melinda) of Clayton, Peggy Cozine of Goldsboro, James Blackman (Teresa) of Grantham and Mark Blackman (Tina) of Garner; brothers, Ronald Blackman (Sharon) of Florida and Edgar Blackman Jr. (Dorthea) of Grantham; grandchildren, David Price, Matt Price, Valerie Blackman, Joseph Timmons, Allen Ray Darby, John-Kurt Cozine, Alexis Cozine, Jameson "J.D." Blackman, Noah Blackman, Josh Blackman, Luke Blackman, Nikki Blackman, Kelly Blackman and Morgan Blackman; and four great-grandchildren, T. J. and Shelly Price and Hannah and Lilly Timmons.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times, at the home.
