James Edgar Jones, 77, Mount Olive resident, passed away peacefully Monday evening, July 11, 2016, in the care of Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

He will be best remembered for having been the longtime manager of Number One Builders Supply in Mount Olive before retirement.

Prior to that, he had been employed at Calypso Plywood Co. Too, he had been associated with Billy Godwin Realty, and also worked with Boling Co.

He had been a member of the Lions Club, and had been active with the Jaycees, both on the local and state levels.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce White Jones of the home; a son, Rick Jones of Wallace; two granddaughters, Jordan Paige Jones and Logan Jones both of Wallace; two sisters, Doris Sutton of Pikeville and Bertie Faye Whitman of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Glenda Wells, Donna Jean Stafford and Susie Lawhorn, and special nephew, Ronnie Jones.

He is also survived by his beloved pet, "Daisy."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and the Rev. Daniel Jones; sisters, Margaret Williams and Grace Kelly; and brothers, D.J. Jones and Donald Ray Jones.

Funeral services will be held by the graveside in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, and will be officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield.

Flowers are welcome and so are memorial expressions to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or the charity of one's choosing.

The Jones family will be receiving friends and relatives at the residence, 129 Pineland Ave., Mount Olive, in the College Heights neighborhood.
