IDA MAE JOHNSON

Ida Mae Daughtry Johnson, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Ida Mae was born in Johnston County on March 22, 1931, to the late John William Daughtry and Fannie Ida Daughtry. She was married to the late Preston Edward Johnson.
She had worked in sales at Belk before going to work at O'Berry Center as a dietitian and later retired. Her most significant role in life and what she did best was being a loving mother and grandmother. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Ida Mae's life at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Braswell and Dr. Ron Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the Hastings Family Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Mozingo and husband, Larry of Goldsboro and Mary Ida Barber and husband, Larry of Goldsboro; sons, Craig Johnson and wife, Jane of Wilmington and Benny Keith Johnson and wife, Cindy Anderson of Garner; grandchildren, Matthew Mozingo (Jennifer), Nichole Mozingo (Mike), Mark Mozingo (Lindzy), Lindsay Orr (Grady), and Sarah Zygmont; and great-grandchildren, Casey Shearin, Zoe Shearin, Harper Orr, Lawson Orr, Katelyn Franks, Meredith Mozingo and Mia Mozingo; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
